Knitting in Wilhelmshaven

Last weekend I spent at a yoga ashram at the North Sea teaching a prenatal yoga training. I travelled via the city of Wilhemshaven and was quite surprised when I left the train station and saw a whole square full of yarn graffiti trees.

I don't know whether you have ever been to Wilhemshaven, but I think it is fair to say that it is a city that is really lacking in the beauty department. So it was a great idea to give this place some adornment.

These are just a couple yarn graffitis, there were so much more. But I had a train to catch and only photographed a random selection. And I also found out what there were all about:

They were part of the Wilhelmshaven Street Art Festival (here).

There is hope for Wilhemshaven.

Clara Crafts

Clara not only comes to the extracurricular craft club that I teach, she also has textile/crafts classes at school this year. In their first class they made so-called Dream Fans (in German) or God's Eyes (in English). She came home totally addicted and over the course of the week she made several ones of all colours and sizes. Here is a little selection:

My hibernating sock wool has been kissed to life again.
Dream on.

Signs of September

One beautiful sunflower opened this week in our garden -
even though summer and sun are coming to their warm ends,
bringing in the harvest.

Tomatoes - the typical September fruit,
that is the only thing that really worked this year in Hubby's garden.

Free for all - porcini mushrooms,
I found near a school playground,
that made a nice grounding meal:

And grounding is what I need right now.

Hello September!

We are already a couple of days into September, but I have only flipped Clara's calendar now. We prolonged our summer holiday with a couple of days at the (oh-so-cold-compared-to-Thailand) Baltic Sea. Additional to a very slow internet connection there I have cultivated quite a strong screen fatigue over the summer weeks, with no desire to spend time in front of a computer. But now it says:

Back to school!

Clara's school actually only starts on Wednesday and yes, she will be in third grade (this special day was already two years ago). But my yoga courses start tomorrow and with all that comes the settling in into our old routine, that feels unfamiliar right now. So we'll see what kind of fresh fruit this September will bring (apart from apples ...). Probably more blog posts, I promise.
